The dark, dark Baja
March 27th, 2008 Posted in Breaking NewsThe moon does not rise until the early morning hours. Athletes are going on their third day, some with as little as 1 or 2 hours sleep. More and more mistakes begin to happen. Patience wears thin. Feet and body take a serious toll at this point. The course is every bit as beautiful along the way, but you haven’t seen darkness till you are in the middle of Baja with no moon. So dark is it here that it has a World famous observatory because of the absence of any light pollution from big cities and towns. Most teams today passed through virtually the only town they will see the entire race, a town about 400 meters long with 3 family run cafes, a church and a school and a park (that was filled with goats when our CP staff arrived.) Then it was back into the wilderness where the occasional light from a small ranch is all that they seen. The two DART/nuun teams are mid way into the final canyon run and appear to have made things interesting for us. Our SPOT tracking is just not giving us all the information we (and you) would love to have and leaves a lot for the imagination. Glenn Rogers and his leading team (Mari and Sean) would love to dethrone Cyril and his squad. But Cyril, Jen and Aaron have had fire in their eyes since their 6 hour mistake on Tuesday.
Many of the teams just might be feeling a tiny ocean breeze coming from the Pacific, a mere 50k away. It is virtually all downhill from here. The ocean was predicted to be roaring tonight and much to our surprise it is a bit tame while it awaits the lead teams. We’re heading into the field so we can bring you more reports from the middle and back of the field from here on out.

With the leaderboard updates, reading the blog, and seeing all the messages to the teams, this race has been the most exciting to watch! Keep up the good work! It’s nice to be able to follow the team so closely.

As of 430-ish this morning, it looks like DART/nuun NWK and DART/nuun riding together on the bike into Ensenada, but on the full leaderboard it shows DART/nuun two CPs behind…I’ll try refreshing screen…

Я подписался на RSS ленту, но посты почему-то в виде каких-то квадратов
Как это исправить?
