Support Crews Arrive at TA 4 - Top of the Sierras

March 25th, 2008 Posted in General

Support Crews had a long drive to meet their teams at the top of the Sierras.  From the mouth of El Cajon the teams climbed 8,000 feet up the canyon.  The crews had to drive around, navigating their way in the darkness to CP 10 near Baja’s highest point, Picacho del Diablo and the Observatory at the top of the mountains.  Many teams had to stop for a nap on the way as it took concentration and most were travelling in the wee morning hours.  At this point all of the frontrunning team’s crews are awaiting them at CP10/TA4, a few are still on their way. Temps at TA4 were reported at below freezing this a.m.  Everybody there is trying hard to remember the scorching sun of yesterday.
